Check the age on the box
Toys with small parts usually carry a warning that they aren’t suitable for children under 36 months. Go for big pieces, no loose batteries and nothing with long cords.
Put it on a Wishorium list
Add your favourites from any shop to one wish list and share the link. The family circle what they’re getting, so there are no doubles at the party, and your child never sees who.
Questions from grown-ups
What do 1 year olds actually play with?
Things they can move and make happen: push-along toys, stackers, shape sorters, balls and board books. The box often gets a look-in too.
Is a first birthday list a bit much?
Family usually ask what to get anyway. A short list stops three people buying the same stacker, and you can add clothes in the next size, or a day out, as well as toys.
